Description

An underutilised palm well suited to milder parts of the country.  The Fishtail Palm is a tough and fast grower which has the same overall shape as the Queen Palm but with a much more tropical looking appearance.

Origin

Thailand.

Form and size

Solitary palm to 30m (much less in cultivation).

Preferred habitat

Outdoors with some protection from wind.  Water well in summer.  We note that whilst needing some wind protection there are very healthy specimens growing well in some of the more wind-swept parts of the Far North.
