Description

A massive, banana-like plant that with age, can assume gigantic proportions.  Fortunately it's is easily kept under control.  As a tough, reliable garden plant that offers a tropical feel this is a must have in northern New Zealand.

 

Origin

South Africa and Mozambique.

 

Form and size

Tall, suckering with age.  Eventually to over 10m with many offspring.

 

Preferred habitat

Outdoors out of strong winds.  Grows well in northern New Zealand.
